Automotive window film is designed for automotive windshields, side windows, and rear glass to control solar radiation, infrared heat, ultraviolet exposure, glare, and visible light entering the vehicle. Depending on the required performance, the films can use nano-ceramic technology, ceramic sputtering, titanium nitride, or multi-layer dual-silver precious-metal sputtering structures.
Different film thicknesses, visible light transmission levels, and tint options are available for windshield and side/rear window applications. The product range includes solar control films, reinforced safety films, ceramic films, and UV-blocking heat-insulating films for different automotive glazing requirements.
Core Functions
Automotive window films manage solar energy through functional coatings and substrate structures. Nano-ceramic films are used to reduce infrared heat while maintaining compatibility with electronic signals. Dual-silver sputtered films reflect selected infrared wavelengths, while titanium nitride films combine heat rejection, low reflectivity, and color stability.
Many products provide 99% UV blocking to reduce long-term exposure of skin, eyes, and vehicle interiors to ultraviolet radiation. Selected windshield films also include blue-light filtering and glare-control functions for driving under strong sunlight, nighttime conditions, and rainy weather.
Safety and Structural Features
Selected films use 2 mil or 4 mil thickened substrates to help retain glass fragments after breakage and reduce the risk of injury caused by flying shards. High-strength substrates, weather-resistant adhesives, and abrasion-resistant surface coatings support long-term use in automotive environments.
Optical and Signal Performance
Optical-grade substrates and dense nano-scale coatings are used to control haze, maintain uniform light transmission, and support clear visibility. Ceramic and selected metal-free film structures have limited impact on GPS navigation, mobile communication, and other in-vehicle electronic systems, making them suitable for electric vehicles and vehicles equipped with multiple electronic devices.
Product Categories
The Automotive window film range includes:
Solar Control Window Film
